Things to do in Giza

Giza is the reason most visitors come to Egypt at all: exactly three pyramids stand on the plateau, Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, alongside the Great Sphinx, not two, not four, and the step pyramid at Djoser is a separate site altogether, in Saqqara. From a Cairo or Giza hotel, the plateau is roughly 45-90 minutes away depending on traffic. The Grand Egyptian Museum, two kilometres from the pyramids, officially opened on 1 November 2025 and holds the complete Tutankhamun collection. A pyramids-plus-GEM day works; pairing Giza with Saqqara the same day usually does not.
