Things to do in Saqqara

Saqqara is a separate necropolis from Giza, older and far quieter, built around Djoser's Step Pyramid, the oldest large stone monument on the site list.

A private-car day starting early combines Saqqara with Dahshur, home to Sneferu's Bent Pyramid and Red Pyramid, and Memphis (Mit Rahina), an open-air museum with a colossal Ramses II statue. All three sites sit inside the same UNESCO listing as Giza, inscribed in 1979, under Memphis and its Necropolis.
