Things to do in Port Said

Port Said sits at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal, where container ships and, on some days, cruise ships queue for the passage. Most visitors here arrive on a cruise call, and shore excursions from the port often head straight for Giza rather than staying in town, since Port Said itself is a working canal city, not a beach resort.

Ain Sokhna, about two hours from Cairo, covers the Red Sea beach side of this region; Port Said is the canal and the port.

Expect a half-day or full-day framing built around ship arrival and departure windows rather than a fixed Cairo-to-Port-Said drive time, and confirm timings against the cruise line or tour operator schedule rather than a printed itinerary.
